A win of $587.5 million from 2 US Powerball tickets

After rolling over a total of 16 times, the two US Powerball tickets brought in a huge win for two lucky winners.

Two tickets, bought in Arizona and Missouri, share a $587.5m (£366m) US Powerball lottery jackpot, the second-biggest US prize ever, organisers say.

The winners in Missouri have been identified as Mr and Mrs Hill, who have 3 sons and a 6 year old daughter they adopted from China. In a press conference to announce their win to the world Mrs Hill had this to say;

“I called my husband and told him, ‘I think I am having a heart attack,'” Cindy Hill, 51, said. “I think we just won the lottery!”

As I’m sure you can imagine, the family is still in shock and have not yet given much thought to how they will spend their winnings but they are really hoping that they will remain grounded through all of this.

Apparently the holder of the other of the 2 US Powerball tickets has been identified as a tall black male with a bald head who was seen on surveillance cameras at a gas station. He went to get gas of course but decided to check his numbers while he was there.

The man can be seen on cameras jumping for joy and punching the air excitedly before checking his numbers again and leaving the gas station. He then had to return as in his elation, he forgot to get gas.

The man has 180 days to come forward and claim his winnings from one of the two US powerball tickets.

The Powerball numbers drawn late on Wednesday were 5, 23, 16, 22, 29 and 6.

Some statisticians estimated a player had more chance of becoming US president, dying from a bee sting or getting struck by lightning than hitting the jackpot…..and it turns out that 2 players managed to do the improbable. This just goes to show, you never know what can happen but one thing’s for sure, you have to be in it to win it! Get 2 US Powerball tickets for the price of one.
