The Lucky Family Lottery Syndicate, from Birr, Co Offaly, won the top prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw
The lucky syndicate of five were accompanied by extended family as they collected their €500,000 cheque at National Lottery offices. As one could imagine, they had the biggest smiles on their faces.
One of the group said: “We won a Scratch Card on Lotto two weeks ago. And on that we won €6. It was too little to divide up between the five of us, so I said, ‘let’s get a ticket for the EuroMillions’
That was just a hunch at the time for the group who have not collectively played the EuroMillions before.
“We bought a €6 Quick Pick on Friday 19 June for that night’s draw. It was the first time we ever played EuroMillions.”

For those of you who want to follow the geographic location of the luck, the lucky lottery syndicate ticket was bought in an Applegreen Brosna Service Station, on Railway Road, in Birr, Co Offaly.
One of the group’s relations reportedly said: “They’ve been going around like headless chickens ever since they found out!”
It has definitely worked out well for this lottery syndicate as they can quite easily split the €500 000 lottery winnings into a nice even €100,000 each.
